Pentastar/HEMI
2022 RAM 1500 towing and performance are enabled by one of the four engine options. You can stick with the base 3.6-litre V6 engine for a power output of 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. This engine is designed with the eTorque system made by RAM – a mild hybrid system that subtly enhances the truck’s power, fuel economy, and smooth operations.
If you want something more powerful, the next step up is a 5.7-litre V8 engine that puts out 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. It can come with eTorque or without it if you prefer.
Up from that is a diesel-powered turbocharged 3.0-litre V6. This engine can put out 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. The diesel torque is helpful if you plan to do a lot of towing. Otherwise, you might want to consider the TRX trim level’s supercharged 6.2-litre V8. It puts out a sturdy 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque in terms of power.
An eight-speed automatic transmission powers the truck’s rear wheels. Four-wheel drive is optional on everything but the TRX trim since it comes standard on that model.
Performance
Now, when it comes to performance, the 2022 RAM 1500 outshines a lot of the competition by offering multiple powertrain configurations, each of which strikes a good balance between power and fuel economy. A few decades ago, RAM decided to ditch leaf springs in favour of the then less-popular coil-spring rear suspension, and the result has been stupendous.
