Jeep Proves EV Tech Adaptable For Off-Road Fans
2026 Jeep Recon EV Range & Charging Time
Jeep has been chipping away at the edges of the electric vehicle revolution for a while, introducing hybrid versions of popular models. Now that the 2026 model year is in full swing, our manufacturing partner is introducing its first pure-electric vehicle, the Jeep Recon. In times of unstable fuel prices, EV technology is more important than ever. So, how far can the 2026 Jeep Recon travel, and how long does it take to charge the battery? Early estimates place the SUV’s range at nearly 400 km. Up to 80 percent of the battery can be replenished in less than 30 minutes. Follow along while we take a closer look at some additional crucial information.

“The 2026 Jeep Recon is a bold step forward for the brand, an all-electric SUV that stays true to our core values of freedom, adventure and capability. It’s trail-rated, purpose-built and ready to take Jeep enthusiasts into the future without compromising the legendary performance they expect,” Bob Broderdorf, CEO of the Jeep brand, said in a press release. “With the Jeep Recon, we’re proving that electrification isn’t just compatible with off-road excellence, it can elevate it, delivering instant torque, precision control and a quieter, more connected driving experience that’s uniquely Jeep.”
How Far Can The 2026 Recon Drive?
Obviously, there is no gasoline- or diesel-powered engine in the 2026 Jeep Recon. Instead, a pair of electric motors is attached to the front and rear axles to provide propulsion. Using the right settings, the new Jeep EV can produce up to 650 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque.
Using available public DC Fast Charging infrastructure, owners can go from five to 80 percent battery capacity in 28 minutes. Buyers choosing to install a level two (240 V) can comfortably recharge the Recon’s battery overnight.
Can The Electric Jeep Recon Go Off-Road?
Don’t mistake the lack of an internal combustion engine for a lack of off-road capability. Jeep put the Recon through all the same testing protocols as any other Trail Rated Jeep platform. That means the 2026 Recon had to show it can provide positive traction on rough and muddy trails, ford deep water effectively, and more. Additionally, the new Jeep EV is equipped with the Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System that includes several driving modes:
- Sport
- Sand
- Rock
- Snow
- Automatic
